Lesson on Prayer

The Temple as a Model for Prayer:

  • Entering the Gates with Thanksgiving
  • Coming into the Courts with Praise

Psalm 100:4-5   4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!  5 For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 140:13  Surely the righteous shall give thanks to your name; the upright shall dwell in your presence.

  • Kneeling at the Altar with Confession and receiving Forgiveness

Psalm 51:1-12  Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions.  2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!  3 For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me.  4 Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.  5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.  6 Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being, and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.  7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.  8 Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones that you have broken rejoice.  9 Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities.  10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.  11 Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me.  12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

  • Making our requests known to God in the Holy Place

Philippians 4:4-7   Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.  5 Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand;  6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

  • Contemplation and Listening in the Holy of Holies

1 Samuel 3:10  And the LORD came and stood, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant hears.”

Psalm 46:10   “Be still, and know that I am God.”

Revelation 3:19-21  Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.  20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.  21 The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne.

Prayers for Healing, Protection and Family

Prayer for Protection and Healing

Heavenly Father, I praise and thank you for all you have given me. Please cover me with the protective, precious blood of your Son, Jesus Christ, and increase your Holy Spirit in me with His gifts of wisdom, knowledge, understanding, hunger for prayer, guidance and discernment to help me know your will and surrender to it more completely.

Father please heal my negative emotions and any wounds in my heart and spirit. Send the sword of your Holy Spirit to sever and break all spells, curses, hexes, voodoo and all negative genetic, inter-generational and addictive material, past, present or to come, known or unknown, against me, my relationships and family, finances, possessions and ministry. Father I forgive and I ask forgiveness for my sins and failings and I ask that my whole person, body and mind, heart and will, soul and spirit, memory and emotions, attitudes and values lie cleansed, renewed and protected by the most precious blood of your Son Jesus Christ.

In the name, power, blood and authority of Jesus Christ I bind and break the power and effect in or around me of any and all evil spirits who are trying to harm me in any way and I command these spirits and their companion spirits in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit to leave me peacefully and quietly and go immediately and directly where Jesus commands them and never again return to me or my family.

Dear Holy Spirit please fill up any void in me to overflowing with your presence and great love. All this Father I pray in the name of Jesus Christ by the guidance of your Holy Spirit. Amen

A Prayer for the Family

Lord Jesus, I ask you to touch and bless all the members of my family. Pour out your life, your love and your joy upon each and every one of us. Protect my family from all harm – physical, spiritual and emotional. Send your Holy angels to be with us as we go through the day.

Forgive me if I have rashly judged any member of my family. Replace my judgment with compassion and understanding. If any family member has hurt me, help me to forgive them with love and compassion. If I need to say something to someone by way of correction, please show me how to do it so that it leads to healing and a better relationship. Give me the grace to listen calmly to any corrections directed at me.

Show me the blessings that have come to me through my family, and give me the love, discipline and humility to pray for them as often as possible.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for my family. Immerse us with the power of Your Holy Spirit. Fill our minds with Your light; fill our bodies with Your health; fill our wills with Your guidance; fill our hearts with Your compassion; and above all, fill us with Your own love for people, and for Your creation. Make us like Jesus in every possible way. Amen.

The Desperation and Deceit of Planned Parenthood

Two things Jesus asserts: The devil is a liar and a murderer. This unbelievable letter from Planned Parenthood lies to promote murder. It also proves Shakespeare knew what he was talking about when he said:

“The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.

An evil soul producing holy witness

Is like a villain with a smiling cheek,

A goodly apple rotten at the heart.”

“But ’tis strange:

And oftentimes, to win us to our harm,

The instruments of darkness tell us truths,

Win us with honest trifles, to betray us

In deepest consequence.”

He could have been writing with Planned Parenthood in mind. Attached is a recent “pastoral letter” advocating abortion. It is sick but shows the desperation of an organization that cannot exist without lies. Don’t be misled; Scripture and Christian teaching both prohibit abortion, and yes, God is present with all and offers forgiveness and grace. Christians are needed to pray, speak up and act on behalf of unborn children.

Planned Parenthood has removed the letter from their site, but it can be read in this article:  http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/06/02/planned-parenthood-letter-from-dedicated-pro-choice-clergy-has-a-message-about-the-bible-and-abortion/
